Like I said: I am in the middle of doing morning radio-shows this whole week with my 60s band ‘the revolvers’

Everyday we do a chalenge: How would this modern song have sounded when it was made in the 60s.

So far we did 4

You can check them out over at www.revolvers.nl , or you can browse to the radio2 site (less dutch jibberish, very fast,  but windows only :(   )

Happy New Year!
With this Tune I declare 2009 the year of the Schnauzer. It’s a bit hard describe this one; is it an original or a remix? 90% of what you hear is played in the last month. The rest is from a hard to find German 60s album. For some reason I keep going back to using found material, although it is way more work than recording an original from scratch. Note to self: do an original next week.

Vocals: Katja Hollander
Backing Vocals: The Schnauz-ettes
Philicorda organ, percussion, drums, bleeps etc: Schnauzer Radio Orchestra

Hang on Sloopy

Friday, August 15th, 2008

In 1965 the McCoys had a huge hit with ‘hang on Sloopy’, a song named after Dorothy Sloop, a singer/pianist from Ohio.  It became the unofficial fight song for the Ohio state University -their version can be downloaded right here- Of Course as with a lot of 60s songs, there is supposed to be an official dance to it. You guessed correctly: the Sloopy. And what do you get when the French do ‘the Sloopy’? That’s right! ‘LE SLOOPY’!

You are a Rat Pfink!

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

This clip is from -according to IMDB- the most incoherent low budget movie of the 60s. Sounds good already doesn’t it? ‘Rat Pfink a Boo Boo’ is a movie about… ehm… nothing really. It doesn’t even try to have a decent story line. I’m always in for a little confusion on a Sunday afternoon, so there you go.
